TECHNICAL GUIDE
"PCB connector" is a purchasing term, not one product: it covers every connector soldered to a printed circuit board. This page sorts them into five kinds, explains the three numbers that appear on every drawing, and maps each kind to the KINGCONN series that carries it. All values are taken from the series drawings on this site.
Board-to-board (BTB) — a plug on one board mates a receptacle on another, stacking the boards
in parallel (mezzanine) or at right angles. KINGCONN BTB series.
FPC / FFC — a flexible printed circuit or flat flexible cable slides into a board-mounted
connector, usually with a flip-lock (ZIF) actuator. KINGCONN FPC series.
Wire-to-board — discrete wires in a crimped housing mate a board header; KINGCONN supplies these
as finished cable assemblies.
Card-edge — the module's own PCB edge is the plug: M.2, Mini PCI and DIMM.
M.2, Mini PCI, DIMM(DDR).
Board-end I/O — the board side of an external interface: USB Type-C, RJ45, HDMI, SATA and the
memory-card sockets. See I/O connectors and

Pitch is the centre-to-centre distance between adjacent contacts. Classic through-hole headers are 2.54mm (0.1 inch); surface-mount PCB connectors run much finer. KINGCONN board-to-board connectors are listed at 0.40, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.27mm pitch, FPC connectors at 0.5 and 1.0mm, and the M.2 card-edge socket at 0.50mm. Finer pitch saves board area and raises the demand on placement accuracy; the plug and receptacle must share the same pitch.
For board-to-board connectors, stack height is the distance between the two boards when the pair is fully mated — it is the number that decides whether components between the boards clear. KINGCONN BTB models are drawn at 0.80, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0mm mated heights. For FPC connectors the equivalent is the connector's height above the board (1.0, 1.75 and 2.5mm on listed models); for M.2 sockets it is the module standoff (3.2, 4.0, 4.2mm).
Pin count is fixed by the interface or by the signals you route. Listed KINGCONN BTB models run from 10 to 200 positions, FPC connectors from 4 to 33 positions, and the keyed M.2 socket carries 67 contacts. On many series the same housing is drawn for several pin counts; the exact count is part of the part number.
Every KINGCONN part page shows the drawing and transcribes its values. Look for: the pitch on the contact dimension line; the mated height on the side view; the contact count in the part description; the mounting style (SMT, DIP or mixed); and the rated insertion cycles in the specification table. The series pages put these side by side in a sortable comparison table, which is the fastest way to shortlist.
