SMT or DIP for a Micro USB receptacle?
Micro USB is an exposed port the user plugs every day, so pull strength matters most: prefer a model with DIP or four-leg board-lock legs that carry the pull force into the board. Pure SMT two-leg types are thinner and suit boards with limited thickness or internal links. The KINGCONN USB Micro series has both, stated in the part description.
Are Micro USB 3.0 and standard Micro USB receptacles interchangeable?
No. The Micro USB 3.0 receptacle has 10 pins and a wider port than the 5-pin Micro-B, so the enclosure cut-out differs. A Micro USB 3.0 receptacle does accept a 5-pin Micro-B plug at USB 2.0 speed. Both are in this series; the pin count is in the part description.
