M.2Connectors (NGFF Sockets) · 5 models

An M.2 connector (M.2 socket, formerly NGFF) is the card-edge socket on the motherboard that takes M.2 SSD and wireless modules. The KINGCONN M.2 series has 5 models: M key (NVMe / SATA SSD) and B key (SATA SSD, WWAN) sockets in 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.2mm stack heights plus a 2.0H on-board type, 0.50mm pitch with 67 contacts, one M-key model marked GEN4 — each with a downloadable engineering drawing on its part page.

How many contacts can M.2 be supplied with?
Contact counts span 67–67; the values offered are: 67
What is the mated height of M.2?
4 of the 5 part numbers in this series state this parameter on the drawing: 3.2 mm (2 part numbers); 4.0 mm (1 part number); 4.2 mm (1 part number)
What are the electrical ratings of M.2?
Operating voltage: 2 of the 5 part numbers in this series state this parameter on the drawing: 50V AC rms (1 part number); 50V AC (1 part number)
Current rating: 2 of the 5 part numbers in this series state this parameter on the drawing: 0.5AMP Max (1 part number); 0.5 A MAX. / PIN (1 part number)

UL rating: 5 of the 5 part numbers in this series state this parameter on the drawing: UL94V-0 (5 part numbers)
How do I request a drawing or samples for M.2?
Email service@kingconn.com.tw with the part number. Clicking any part card on a product page also pre-fills the enquiry subject with that part number. Our sales team will reply with the drawing, samples and pricing.
Can M.2 be customised?
Yes. The Taoyuan R&D team covers the full path from design and tooling to volume production, including medical-device ODM experience. Send us the application and the requirement, and sales and engineering will assess it together.
Which M.2 key do I need: B key or M key?
It follows the module: NVMe SSDs use M key; SATA SSDs and WWAN modules use B key; a module notched B+M fits either socket. The KINGCONN M.2 series has both M-key and B-key sockets; notch positions and pin ranges are in the M.2 key types and sizes guide.
How do I choose the stack height of an M.2 connector?
Stack height is the gap between the motherboard and the underside of the mated module, and it has to clear the components under the module — double-sided SSDs need more room than single-sided wireless cards. The heights of the KINGCONN M.2 series are on each part card and drawing; email the part number to service@kingconn.com.tw for the drawing and samples.
Is an M.2 connector the same as a Mini PCIe connector?
No. M.2 succeeded Mini PCIe with a different pin count, key and PCB footprint, so modules are not interchangeable. KINGCONN lists both (Mini PCI series); the differences are in the M.2 vs Mini PCI socket guide.
