A footprint or height no catalog part hits, a discontinued connector that must keep shipping inside an existing product, and a design that needs its supplier to own the tooling.
Any of the following starts an evaluation: the engineering drawing of the part you need, a sample of the original connector, or the mating half plus the board constraints (footprint, height limit, current and temperature requirements). The more of the mating interface you can pin down, the faster the quote.
KINGCONN designs in Taoyuan and produces at its Suzhou plant, with tooling made and owned in-house — the same setup behind the catalog families, under the ISO 9001:2015 quality system. The evaluation answers three things: whether existing tooling already covers it, the cost of modifying a tool, and the cost and lead time of a new one. Pre-production samples come off the actual production tool, not a prototyping service.
