What is a push-push card socket?

A push-push card socket holds the card with a spring-loaded cam: the first push seats and latches the card, a second push ejects it. The latch, not friction, retains the card, so insertion ends with a definite click and removal needs no tool.

What is the difference between a push-push and a slide-in / slide-out card socket?
A push-push socket has an eject spring and cam: one push latches the card, a second push releases it. A slide-in / slide-out socket (no eject spring; "Simple Type" or "NON PUSH" in the catalogue) holds the card by contact normal force and the housing walls and is pulled out by hand, with the fewest parts.
